TheatreSquared is committed to helping train the artists of tomorrow through professional, immersive workshops and academies that advance theatrical craft.  All TheatreSquared programs are led by professional actors, directors and designers.  

Each summer, TheatreSquared offers a one-week drama camp for 10-13 year olds and a two-week Shakespeare Academy for 14-18 year olds.

TheatreSquared, Northwest Arkansas’ regional theatre, offers its 15th annual Summer Drama Camp, a weeklong day camp that immerses students in all things theatrical. Throughout the week, students will explore the works of one of the most celebrated playwrights of all time—William Shakespeare! Students will study acting, improvisation, movement, and theatrical design. This creative camp is perfect for students who are new to theatre as well as for those who are interested in further developing their skills and promoting active engagement. T2 camps enhance life skills of observation, focus, self-confidence, discipline, integrity, commitment, and teamwork.

A free public showcase will take place on June 14 at 12 p.m. in the Rehearsal Studio at TheatreSquared’s new home. In this short, fun “Shakes-perience,” students will have the opportunity to share the week’s achievement with their friends and families.

TheatreSquared, Northwest Arkansas’ professional theatre company, offers its 15th annual Junior Shakespeare Camp. Using one of Shakespeare’s master works as the launching point, this week-long camp provides students the opportunity to explore acting, dramaturgy, movement, and theatrical design. This year’s camp will be exploring A Midsummer Night’s Dream!

This creative camp is perfect for students who are new to theatre as well as for those who are interested in further developing their skills, and is a wonderful building block for those wanting to continue their training with T2’s Summer Shakespeare Academy. The program promotes active engagement and nurtures respect for the power of language, the examination of complex ideas, the expression of imagination and a deepened understanding of the richness of human experience.

This summer we are excited to offer our first ever full week IMPROV INTENSIVE. This fun (and funny) camp – focused solely on the craft of improvised performance – will give students the opportunity to act, think, and learn on their feet. Students will begin the week building their collaborative, communication skills through classic improv exercises. After mastering the basic building blocks of improvisation, students will hone their scene work and performance skills as they build toward an exciting end-of-week showcase performance.

T2’s Improv Intensive will be led by improviser, actor, and founder of the Huge Lightning Comedy Festival, Jordan Haynes. Jordan worked as a professional improviser with The Second City in Chicago, as a performer with their Second City Works ensemble. He was an improviser for an I.O. Chicago (formerly Improv Olympic) “Harold” team, and has performed in multiple sketch festivals around the country.

A free public showcase will take place on June 28 at 6pm at TheatreSquared’s new home, where students will have the opportunity to share their week’s achievements with their friends and families.

TheatreSquared, Northwest Arkansas’ professional theatre company, offers its 15th annual Summer Shakespeare Academy. This summer day camp – led by professional directors, actors, designers, and musicians – provides young theatre lovers some of the area’s best available training with a two-week "total immersion" in the theatrical world of one of William Shakespeare’s most popular plays – A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

The Shakespeare Academy is designed to bring students into working contact with the creative process by placing them collectively in the role of “professional theatre company.” Throughout the camp, all students will receive acting and technical training and then work collaboratively to create a magical production. All students will take an active role, either in the cast or on the technical and design team.

T2 education programs promote active engagement and nurture respect for the power of language, the examination of complex ideas, the expression of imagination and a deepened understanding of the richness of human experience.

AEGIS Summerstage

When: Sat., June 15 – Sat., June 22
Performances: Sat., June 22 at 2 p.m.
Tuition: Free, through a grant from the Arkansas Department of Education

SUMMERSTAGE is an eight-day, full-immersion residential AEGIS program made possible through a grant from the Arkansas Department of Education, and offered at no cost to all accepted participants.

SUMMERSTAGE is facilitated by TheatreSquared, an award-winning regional theatre company, and held on the University of Arkansas campus in Fayetteville from June 15-22, 2019. All rising 10th through 12th grade students in the state of Arkansas (public, private and homeschooled) are eligible to apply. 

This program is designed to offer students a unique exposure to nontraditional methodologies of creating theatrical performance, placing them in the dual role of writer and performer. Students will work with professional playwrights, poets, directors, musicians and actors to explore the process of creating a unique theatrical performance, working collaboratively as an ensemble to devise an original script that will be rehearsed for an end-of-session showcase.
