Professional Training

TheatreSquared is committed to helping train the artists of tomorrow through professional, immersive workshops and academies that advance theatrical craft.  All TheatreSquared programs are led by professional actors, directors and designers.  

Each summer, TheatreSquared offers  a one-week drama camp for 10-12 year olds and a two-week Shakespeare Academy for 13-18 year olds.


2018 Drama Camp

Location:  Walton Arts Center’s Nadine Baum Studios, Fayetteville, Arkansas
Time: 10am - 4pm
Final Free Performance:  Date TBD @ 3pm.  
Tuition: $225, Students should bring a bag lunch each day.

TheatreSquared, Northwest Arkansas’ regional theatre, offers its twelfth annual Summer Drama Camp, a week-long "total immersion"  in the theatrical world of one of the most celebrated playwrights of all time—William Shakespeare!

TheatreSquared, Northwest Arkansas’ regional theatre, offers its twelfth annual Summer Drama Camp, a week-long "total immersion" in the theatrical world of one of the most celebrated playwrights of all time—William Shakespeare!

This creative camp is perfect for students who are new to theatre as well as for those who are interested in further developing their skills.  The program promotes active engagement and nurtures respect for the power of language, the examination of complex ideas, the expression of imagination and a deepened understanding of the richness of human experience.  T2 camps enhance life skills of observation, focus, self-confidence, discipline, integrity, commitment and teamwork. 

Students will study acting, improvisation, movement, stage combat and theatrical design.

A free public showcase performance will take place July 15 at 3pm in the Studio Theatre at Walton Arts Center's Nadine Baum Studios where students can share the week’s achievement with their friends and families.

Scholarships are available through special support from the Nadine L. Baum Charitable Foundation for students with demonstrated financial need. If you are interested in applying, contact morgan@theatre2.org.

Romeo and Juliet

TheatreSquared, Northwest Arkansas’ regional theatre, offers its 14th annual Summer Shakespeare Academy, led by professional directors, actors, designers and musicians.  The Academy is a two-week "total immersion"  in the theatrical world of William Shakespeare, and is designed to bring students into working contact with the creative process, while focusing and advancing the performance skills necessary to create an ensemble production.  


In the morning
Students will study acting, movement, stage combat and design. 

In the afternoon
Students rehearse one of Shakespeare's greatest plays, Romeo and Juliet.

Two public performances of the production of Romeo and Juliet will take place on the final date of the Academy at 4pm and 6pm at Walton Arts Center’s Nadine Baum Studios in Fayetteville.  

Students will receive 2 complimentary tickets for the public performances and additional tickets can be purchased for $5 each.

Students who are residents of Arkansas and are rising 9th, 10th, or 11th graders at a public or private high school or home school can apply to the free AEGIS Summerstage program, a weeklong free residency camp for gifted students including housing, food, tuition and materials.  Dates and applications will be posted in early 2018, with applications due in March of 2018.
