MALCOLM X AND REDD FOXX WASHING DISHES AT JIMMY’S CHICKEN SHACK IN HARLEM
Written by Jonathan Norton
Directed by Dexter J. Singleton
WORLD PREMIERE | Developed at the 2024 Arkansas New Play Festival
October 1 - November 2, 2025
1943. Two young Harlemites – Little and Foxy – form an unlikely friendship over leftover fried chicken and dirty dishwater. Then a long hot summer of heartbreak, betrayal, and racial uprising moves them farther from each other—but much closer to the history-making American icons they are destined to become. This electrifying world premiere blends sharp humor with raw humanity, revealing the laughter, struggle, and brotherhood that shaped two legends. Commissioned by TheatreSquared.
A Co-World Premiere Produced by TheatreSquared, City Theatre Company, Virginia Stage Company and Dallas Theater Center.
