New York Times Critics' Pick and 2016 OBIE Award-winner 'Skeleton Crew' On-Stage In NWA

On-Stage At TheatreSquared October 10–November 4, 2018

NORTHWEST ARKANSAS—October 10, 2018—The blistering comic drama Skeleton Crew begins performances on October 10 at TheatreSquared, bringing to Northwest Arkansas a new work by one of America’s most acclaimed contemporary playwrights. Dominique Morisseau, a Steinberg Playwright Award-winner and two-time NAACP Image Award honoree, is “one of the rising talents in American drama” (NYTimes) and “a rising star” (L.A. Times), described by critics as a modern-day successor to 20th-century giants Arthur Miller, Clifford Odets, and August Wilson. Skeleton Crew is set in Detroit’s last exporting auto plant, where sparks fly on the production line—and in the breakroom. As rumors surface about a closing date, new power dynamics emerge. When the line between blue collar and white collar blurs, how far over are they willing to step?  Performances are scheduled October 10–November 4, and tickets are on sale now from $17-$48 at (479) 443-5600 or theatre2.org.

Skeleton Crew is Death of a Salesman for the modern era,” said Bob Ford, artistic director. “With empathy, humor and electricity, it shares the story and struggle of four American workers, as they’re forced to ask—along with the audience—what the future will look like as life and work changes for all of us, wherever we are and whatever we do.”

“Warm-blooded, astute, and very fine—a deeply American play.” — The New York Times

"In the Arthur Miller vein, an absorbing, rewarding comedy-drama with a heart.” — Washington Post

Skeleton Crew is directed by Kimille Howard, who is currently collaborating with Morisseau as assistant director to Des McAnuff for Ain’t Too Proud: The Life and Times of the Temptations in advance of its spring 2019 Broadway debut (Ahmanson Center, LA; Kennedy Center; Berkeley Rep; Princess of Wales Theatre, Toronto). She is a resident director at The Flea Theater, and recent credits include The Girl With No Hands by Charly Evon Simpson, TRIGGERED by Gabriel Jason Dean at the Cherry Lane Theatre.

The cast of Skeleton Crew features Broderick Clavery, Anton Floyd, DeAnna Supplee, and Cherene Snow (All the Way). The creative team includes scenic designer Kim Powers, lighting designer John D. Alexander, costume designer Ruby Kemph, sound designer Luqman Brown, and projection designer Yee Eun Nam.

TheatreSquared’s production is made possible in part with support from show sponsors Sandy Edwards and Peter & Anne Leer.
